Langtang Region Treks
Langtang region is a popular region in the north and nearest Himalayan region from Kathmandu valley. Despite of being very near to Kathmandu, the Langtang region is as wild as any Tibetan highlands with peaceful rural landscape. Langtang trekking route goes through traditional ethic village and unharmed forests on the way to the peaks of Langtang-Lirung. The people living in the uplands of the Langtang region are Nepalese but being the downhill of the Tibetan origin so they look like the Tibetans. Langtang trekking is one of the most famous trekking region for those wishing a short trek from Kathmandu into the Himalayan range Langtang Lirung(7246m) lies at the north Gang chhenpo(6388m) and Naya Kanga ri(5846m) lies at the south and Dorje Lakpa(6966m) at the east of the valley. Moreover, accompanying with the varieties of bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, rhododendron, and snow-capped Himalayan make the trek one of the most different treks nearby Kathmandu.
Langtang region trekking starts with a day’s bus ride from Katmandu to Syabru Bensi. We head upward hill to Lama Hotel and Langtang village the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola until we arrive at the famous and religious place Kanyanjing Gompa. We can have lunch at this place if you like and we can see red panda, monkey, bears if we are lucky. We can spend overnight in Lama Hotel. Next day trek to Langtang village; we can find horse stable, grazing Yaks and beautiful view of different mountain. Then trek to Kyanjin Gompa(3798m) we can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, waterfall, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers. Kyanjin Gompa is the highest point of the trekking. Then, trek to Sybru Bensi(1462m). Finally trekking over then, drive back to Kathmandu by bus.
